New Delhi: Indian Overseas Congress chief Sam Pitroda has once again found himself at the centre of controversy after making remarks about India’s foreign policy priorities and relationships with neighbouring countries. Pitroda stated that India’s foreign policy should first focus on its neighbourhood and expressed a sense of familiarity and comfort with countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal. “I felt at home,” he said, describing his visits to these countries in a way that some have found politically sensitive and controversial.

Pitroda’s comments come amid ongoing political debates about India’s approach to regional diplomacy and security. He questioned whether India can truly “substantially improve relationships” with neighbours and underscored cultural and historical ties, saying that he does not feel like he is in a foreign country when visiting these nations.
