Kottayam: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Monday demanded a comprehensive and impartial investigation into the death of IT professional Anandu Aji from Kottayam.

The organisation described his death as “unnatural” and questioned the authenticity of a suicide note that surfaced on Instagram shortly after his death, in which Aji allegedly accused RSS members of sexual abuse.

In a statement, K B Sreekumar, joint general secretary of RSS Dakshin Kerala Prant, said: “The unnatural death of Sri Anandu Aji is sad and unfortunate. His family has been associated with the Sangh for years.” He added that the allegations in the suicide note were “dubious and baseless” and said the RSS Kottayam unit had already filed a written petition demanding a thorough and impartial inquiry.

Sreekumar further stated that such a probe would “bring out the real cause of his death and ensure the innocence of the RSS.”

Congress demands FIR naming RSS

The Congress party sharply criticised the Kerala Police for not naming the RSS in the FIR despite the content of the alleged suicide note. Party leaders demanded a time-bound, fair investigation into the case.

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra posted on X, “The RSS must allow these allegations to be investigated fully. In his suicide message, Anandu Aji alleged that he was abused again and again by multiple members of the RSS.”

She added that “sexual abuse of boys is as widespread as that of girls” and called for breaking “the code of silence” surrounding such crimes.

Senior Congress leader Pawan Khera also stated that the RSS must be “exposed” and held accountable if the allegations are proven true.

BJP accuses Congress of politicising tragedy

Responding to the controversy, the BJP accused the Congress of attempting to politicise a personal tragedy. Party spokesperson and MP Sudhanshu Trivedi described the case as “suspicious” and called for a free and fair investigation by the Kerala government.

“The unfortunate death of Sri Anandu Aji is painful. We demand that the veil of suspicion over it be removed through a proper inquiry,” Trivedi said, while expressing condolences to the bereaved family.

Case background and ongoing investigation

Anandu Aji, reportedly in his late twenties, was an IT professional from Elikkulam in Kottayam district. His alleged suicide note, posted on a scheduled Instagram after his death, accused RSS members of repeated sexual abuse during organisational activities. The note circulated widely on social media, leading to public outrage and calls for justice.

While the Kerala Police has begun an investigation, it has not confirmed whether the social media post has been verified or included as primary evidence. The RSS, Congress, and BJP have all filed petitions or made statements demanding independent inquiries.

The case has reignited debate over institutional accountability and sexual abuse within ideological organisations in India, with both the political and social fallout still unfolding as the investigation continues.
