Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar was recently named Reddit’s brand ambassador, but the decision hasn’t impressed everyone — particularly comedian Rohan Joshi. In a satirical video posted to his social media, Joshi said Sachin’s lifestyle is the “antithesis” of Reddit culture.

“He played 664 matches over 24 years and touched grass 200 days a year,” Joshi quipped. “That’s the opposite of a Redditor.”

While the comedian began by praising Tendulkar’s cricketing legacy, he quickly pivoted to questioning the platform’s choice, suggesting that someone with so much outdoor experience is ill-suited to represent an internet-heavy platform like Reddit. “No one who touched that much grass should be endorsing Reddit,” Joshi said, sparking both laughter and debate online.

Sachin, on the other hand, said he looked forward to engaging with cricket fans via Reddit and exploring passionate community conversations, particularly in groups like r/IndiaCricket.

The announcement is part of Reddit’s broader expansion plans in India, including a new office in Bengaluru and increased hiring across tech and content roles. Sachin’s ambassadorship is expected to feature fan interactions and a dedicated marketing campaign across Indian and global markets.
