Master Blaster borrows a Narasimham punchline for a Reddit answer, Sanju Samson passes the question to Lalettan, and the Complete Actor hits it out of the park

A question about Sanju Samson brought Mohanlal's famous 'Nee Po Mone Dinesha' dialogue into a Reddit conversation with Sachin Tendulkar. Sanju passed the question on to Lalettan, who eventually joined the conversation with a cricket-themed explanation of his own
During an Ask Me Anything session on Reddit, a fan brought up something Sanju had said in earlier interviews. The Kerala cricketer had spoken about how Sachin’s advice helped him and revealed that they stayed in regular contact for months, including long conversations after India’s T20 World Cup win.
The fan wrote: “Sanju said he was in constant touch with you for months and had long conversations with you during the T20 WC. What did you tell him?”
Most would have expected a note on technique or temperament. Sachin chose a movie dialogue instead.
“Nee po mone Dinesha! Sanju will tell you what it means,” Sachin wrote.
The line is one of the most recognisable in Malayalam cinema, and it sent Kerala fans into overdrive.
Social media filled up with reactions
“Wowwwwwww never knew you remember Lalettan iconic dialogue too!!! Thank you Sanju for introducing Sachin to Lale10,” one user wrote, merging Lalettan with Sachin’s iconic jersey number.
Another kept it short: “OMG.. lalettan reference...”
Sanju hands it over to Lalettan
Sanju did not try to explain it himself. He responded that “the best person to share the meaning is our own lalettan.”
The cue did not go unnoticed. Mohanlal posted an Instagram Story addressed directly to Sanju, and he explained the line in cricketing terms.
“Mone Sanju, when Sachin Tendulkar hit a six, ‘Nee po mone Dinesha’ was the message to the bowler: go on, try the next ball. Your bat’s saying it now too. Keep it going, the next bowler is waiting,” Mohanlal wrote.
The film behind the line
The dialogue belongs to ‘Narasimham’ (2000), the blockbuster directed by Shaji Kailas and written by Ranjith. Mohanlal plays Poovalli Induchoodan, a fearless man who stands up against injustice, and the film became a landmark in Malayalam mass cinema. More than two decades on, it still sits comfortably in Kerala’s everyday vocabulary.
Literally, it translates to something like “Just go Dinesha.” But a literal translation misses the point completely. In practice, the phrase carries a swagger and a playful, confident dismissal, the sort of thing you say with a raised eyebrow while the other person realises they’ve been outclassed. That attitude is why it has lasted so long.
