The IMD has predicted moderate rainfall across southern Tamil Nadu and the Western Ghats until March 1, influenced by a low-pressure system.

Chennai: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast moderate rainfall in South Tamil Nadu and the Western Ghats districts until March 1, following the formation of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal.
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, said a low-pressure system over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining central Bay formed on the morning of February 23. The system is expected to weaken gradually while moving north-eastwards.
Low-pressure system, cyclonic circulation to influence the weather
In addition, a cyclonic circulation over the southeast Arabian Sea off the south Kerala coast is likely to impact weather conditions over adjoining regions.
Under the combined influence of these systems, moderate rain is likely at isolated places across southern Tamil Nadu, the Western Ghats region and neighbouring districts from February 24 to March 1, the IMD said in a press release.
