Punjab CM announces Rs 5 lakh ex gratia for family of Sukhwinder Kaur, killed in a Pakistan drone attack.

Ludhiana (Punjab): Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday, May 13, announced Rs 5 lakh ex gratia from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for the family of Sukhwinder Kaur, a resident of Khai Ke village, Ferozepur, who lost her life in the Pakistani drone attack. The CM condoled the death and hoped that her soul rest in peace.
"Our government stands firmly with her family during this time of immense pain, and we are committed to providing all possible support to help them cope with this devastating loss," the CM said.
Lending support in such a dark hour, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora, too, announced Rs 2 lakh aid for Kaur's family.
Kaur was being treated at the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) following the attack, but succumbed to injuries in the wee hours of Tuesday, despite medical assistance. Lakhwinder Singh, her husband, is currently receiving burn treatment in the same hospital.
Pak drone attack
Pakistan resorted to cross-border shelling in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat after India carried out Operation Sindoor on May 7, in retaliation for the Pahalgam attack on April 22.
The horrific impact of these attacks was felt across the border as several died, and multiple were left injured. India conducted a concerted operation in response to the drone attack and cross-border shelling, damaging airfields, communication centres, and radar infrastructure across 11 Pakistani air bases.
PM visits Adampur Air Base
Nationalistic fervour filled the air as chants of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Matram’ echoed at the Adampur Air base after Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached there to meet Air Warriors and other soldiers' days following the nation’s success in ‘Operation Sindoor’.
The PM took to X and shared his incredible experience interacting with the brave army personnel who embodied ‘courage, determination and fearlessness’.
"Earlier this morning, I went to AFS Adampur and met our brave air warriors and soldiers. It was a very special experience to be with those who epitomise courage, determination and fearlessness. India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation, " the PM wrote in his post on X.
