Kolkata: The post-mortem report of the woman doctor from R.G. Kar Medical College & Hospital in Kolkata, who was raped and murdered on August 9, has revealed that she sustained 14 injuries. Sources indicate that all the injuries were inflicted before her death.
The report shows multiple injuries across various parts of her body, including her head, cheeks, lips, nose, right jaw, chin, neck, left arm, left shoulder, left knee, ankle, and genital area. Haemorrhage was noted in her lungs, with blood clots in other areas and a thick white liquid found in the genitalia. The report suggests that manual strangulation and smothering caused her death, with the manner of death classified as homicidal. Evidence of sexual assault was also found.

Medical experts support the claims of protesting students and junior doctors, indicating that multiple perpetrators were likely involved. So far, only one suspect, civic volunteer Sanjay Roy, has been arrested by the Kolkata Police and transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The CBI, which took over the case following an order from the Calcutta High Court, is actively seeking additional suspects, including former R.G. Kar Medical College principal Sandip Ghosh, who has been interrogated extensively.
