Thiruvananthapuram: BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar has reportedly faced criticism within the party for his corporate-style management. The criticism emerged during an online meeting of in-charges within the state unit, according to sources.
Party in-charges argued that party work should not be run like a company. Assigning responsibilities to mandalam (local unit) presidents as if managing a corporate organisation has reportedly increased their workload.
Concerns were raised that the additional pressure has led several unit presidents to consider resignation. Unit presidents are tasked with completing multiple duties, including workshops and programmes linked to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, which can extend for 15 days. They are also expected to manage events related to Onam and Sree Krishna Jayanti.
Participants emphasised that these presidents are not salaried employees, and the heavy workload has left many contemplating stepping down.
The criticism reportedly emerged when state general secretaries noted delays in conducting workshops and ward conventions.
Support for leadership
Meanwhile, leaders such as MT Ramesh and S Suresh are reported to have expressed support for Rajeev Chandrasekhar despite the internal dissent.
