Kannur: The state government has ordered a Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau investigation against former Kannur District Panchayat president P P Divya regarding alleged administrative irregularities during her tenure. The probe originates from a complaint alleging that construction contracts were awarded to a company named Carton India without inviting public tenders.
The complaint was lodged by KSU vice president Muhammed Shammas. The government order directs a Vigilance inquiry against P P Divya, her husband, and former Kannur District Panchayat secretary Abdul Latheef.
Corruption allegations against P P Divya, who was serving as the Kannur District Panchayat president at the time, had previously surfaced in connection with the death of Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Naveen Babu.
