Former Kannur District Panchayat president P P Divya has written to the CPM central leadership seeking reinstatement and alleging discriminatory treatment.

Kannur (Kerala): Former Kannur District Panchayat president P P Divya has apparently initiated moves to resume active involvement within the party fold. As part of these efforts, she has reportedly dispatched a letter to the CPM central leadership and spoken over the phone with party leader M A Baby. The communication was sent prior to the recently held expanded district committee meeting in Kannur.
In her letter, Divya alleged that certain leaders were deliberately intervening to block her reinstatement. She claimed that these individuals were using the ongoing legal proceedings against her as a pretext to stall her return, despite other party members facing similar cases. Divya contended that she was being subjected to discriminatory treatment.

Divya was forced to step down as Kannur District Panchayat president following controversies surrounding the death of Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Naveen Babu. The CPM subsequently took strict disciplinary action against her, demoting her from the district committee to the Irinavu branch and stripping her of all official party designations.
Divya had reportedly expected to attend the CPM Kannur expanded district committee meeting held recently, but was not included. The party is scheduled to convene expanded area committee meetings starting next week, to which she may potentially be invited. The developments indicate a rift within the party, with one faction advocating for her return while another continues to oppose it.
