Known for his long political career and multiple terms as Bihar’s Chief Minister, Kumar’s new residence reflects his continued presence in national politics.

What a Type-8 bungalow offers
Type-8 bungalows are the highest category of government accommodation in Delhi. These residences are typically spread over 8,000–8,500 square feet and include multiple bedrooms, large living and dining spaces, study areas, and expansive lawns.
They are also equipped with advanced security systems, including CCTV surveillance and round-the-clock security personnel.
Along with the new residence, Nitish Kumar has been granted Z+ category security by the CRPF, one of the highest levels of protection provided in India.
This includes multiple layers of armed security and continuous monitoring, underlining his political stature.
Shift after Rajya Sabha entry
Nitish Kumar was sworn in as a Rajya Sabha member on April 10. He stepped down as Bihar Chief Minister shortly after, paving the way for a leadership change in the state.
The new government in Bihar is now headed by Samrat Choudhary.
The allotment of a Type-8 bungalow in Sunehri Bagh is typically reserved for leaders who hold or have held top constitutional or political positions.
The move highlights Nitish Kumar’s continued relevance and standing in national politics even after transitioning from state leadership to a parliamentary role.
