Himachal Pradesh: A cloudburst was reported in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district on Friday evening, but authorities said there were no casualties or loss of life.

The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Kullu said the situation was normal following the incident in Sharod Nallah, Sub-Tehsil Jari, at about 5.35 pm. The water level in nearby Barogi Nala has risen due to rain, officials said, according to ANI.

The cloudburst comes as heavy rain and flash floods continue to affect parts of Himachal Pradesh. According to reports, 357 roads are blocked, 599 power distribution transformers are out of service, and 177 water supply schemes have been disrupted.

The state has reported 208 monsoon-related deaths so far this year, including 112 from natural disasters such as landslides, floods and house collapses. More than 90 fatalities were due to road accidents in the hill state.

The India Meteorological Department has predicted more rain in the coming days, issuing an orange alert for August 11 and 12 in three districts and a yellow alert for others.

The incident in Kullu comes just over a week after a cloudburst in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district left five dead and many missing. More than 100 people remain unaccounted for after mudslides in the Kheer Gadh area swept away buildings, shops and roads.
