Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu on Friday held a high-level review meeting with aviation authorities and airlines to assess India’s readiness for the winter fog season, a period known for frequent flight delays and disruptions. The meeting comes at a time when IndiGo is already facing major operational challenges nationwide.

In a post on X, the minister said he had chaired a “comprehensive review meeting” with the DGCA, Airports Authority of India (AAI), airport operators, airlines, and CISF. The focus was to ensure that all agencies strictly follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for managing low-visibility conditions.

Naidu said all stakeholders had been directed to ensure full compliance with fog-related operating procedures, fix accountability, and maintain strong coordination. He emphasised that smooth operations during fog would depend on:

  • Real-time exchange of information

  • Active war rooms for quicker decision-making

  • Deployment of CAT II and CAT III compliant aircraft

  • Qualified crew trained for low-visibility operations

He also underlined the importance of clear and timely communication to passengers so they can plan better during the winter travel period.

“Each and every passenger is important,” the minister said, adding that any instance of inconvenience would be dealt with through clear accountability across the aviation ecosystem.

The review is part of the government’s efforts to stabilise flight operations amid the ongoing disruption at IndiGo and ensure that fog-related delays do not worsen the situation further.
