Uttar Pradesh: A doctor at a private hospital in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, is under investigation after a family alleged he used Fevikwik instead of proper stitches to treat their child’s bleeding head wound, according to multiple reports.

Sardar Jaspinder Singh, a resident of an upscale housing society in Jagriti Vihar, said his young son injured himself while playing at home, hitting his head on the corner of a table and beginning to bleed.

The family rushed him to Bhagyashree Hospital, where the attending doctor allegedly asked them to purchase a ₹5 tube of Fevikwik and then used the adhesive to seal the wound. According to the family, the child cried continuously in pain. “The doctor told us he was just nervous and the pain would subside,” they said in their complaint.

When the discomfort continued through the night, the family took the boy to Lokpriya Hospital the following morning. Doctors there reportedly spent nearly three hours removing the hardened adhesive from the injury. Once the area was cleaned, the child received four stitches.

The family said the outcome could have been far more serious, alleging that the Fevikwik could have caused severe damage if it had leaked into the toddler’s eye.

Meerut Chief Medical Officer Dr Ashok Kataria confirmed that the complaint has been received. “An investigation committee has been formed, and action will be taken based on its findings,” he said.

The inquiry will examine whether standard medical procedures were violated and whether disciplinary or legal action is warranted against the doctor.

The family has also escalated the issue to the Chief Minister’s Office.
