Ludhiana: An email threatening bomb blasts at the Ludhiana Mayor’s office and the ancestral residence of Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh in the district was received at the municipal corporation office on Monday, police said.

Officials later confirmed that no explosives or suspicious materials were found at either location, indicating that the threat appears to be another hoax email. Police have intensified security arrangements and cyber teams are currently investigating the origin of the message.

Bomb disposal and dog squads deployed

Following the alert, police teams along with bomb disposal units and dog squads rushed to both sites — the Mayor’s office and Diljit Dosanjh’s ancestral residence in Dugri.

Extensive search operations were carried out at both locations as a precautionary measure.

Municipal Corporation evacuated as precaution

Police said that since government office timings across Punjab were revised to morning hours from Monday, staff were already present at work when the threat was received.

As a safety measure, the entire municipal corporation premises in Zone A were evacuated immediately while checks were conducted.

Security heightened, cyber teams investigating email source

Officials confirmed that security has been strengthened across sensitive locations in Ludhiana following the incident.

Cybercrime units have begun tracing the email’s origin to identify those responsible for issuing the threat.

Pattern of similar hoax threats in Punjab and Haryana

Police noted that the latest scare comes shortly after a series of similar threats reported in recent weeks across Punjab and Haryana, many of which were later confirmed to be hoax alerts.

A few days earlier, several schools in Ludhiana had also received similar bomb threat emails, which were found to be false after detailed verification.

Ongoing vigilance amid recurring security alerts

Authorities continue to maintain heightened vigilance across public offices and sensitive locations, with repeated hoax threats prompting increased security checks and rapid response protocols.

Investigations are ongoing to determine whether the incidents are linked or part of a coordinated attempt to disrupt public order.
