Ramesh accused the government of suppressing the Opposition and trying to derail their campaign against electoral injustices.

New Delhi: Congress MP Jairam Ramesh on Wednesday censured the Delhi Police for lodging a First Information Report (FIR) against Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and fellow politicians over their demonstration targeting the Election Commission of India.
He maintained that the police measures were designed to suppress the Opposition's ongoing campaign against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral lists.
In a statement posted on X, Ramesh wrote: “For almost two years now the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has been relentlessly exposing, through factual evidence, the Vote Chori conspiracy hatched between the PM & the HM on one side and the CEC on the other.”
He also singled out Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, alleging that both leaders were “nervous, rattled and desperate” in the wake of the Opposition's mobilisation.
“Crores of genuine voters have lost their Constitutional right to vote through the atrocious process of SIR, Shahenshah Instigated Removal. And when the LOP-LS adopts the method of satyagraha to highlight the injustices of SIR, the Delhi Police registers an FIR against him and other leaders. The diabolical duo is nervous, rattled and desperate. The writing on the wall is clear,” the post read.
His observations followed the registration of an FIR by Delhi Police concerning Congress MPs Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and other INDIA bloc parliamentarians after they reportedly entered the Akashvani Bhawan premises without authorisation during their protest against the poll panel on Tuesday, according to police officials.

Delhi Police stated that the INDIA bloc had organised a march from Parliament House towards Nirvachan Sadan, the official headquarters of the Election Commission. Authorities noted that no official sanction had been requested or issued for the intended march.
Opposition parliamentarians were blocked from advancing towards the Election Commission premises, prompting several leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, to organise a sit-in near Akashvani Bhawan.
When demonstrators were halted in the vicinity of the Election Commission office, multiple opposition figures and MPs launched a sit-in demonstration. Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra subsequently gained entry to the Akashvani Bhawan complex alongside other leaders to continue their protest inside the building.
Police representatives indicated that the demonstrators were directed to clear the site, but they allegedly refused to comply, maintaining they would remain until an MP delegation was granted an audience with Election Commission officials.
