IndiGo’s Chennai–Singapore flight faced a nearly six-hour delay, with a viral video showing passengers expressing frustration over the prolonged wait.

An IndiGo flight from Chennai to Singapore faced a delay of nearly six hours on February 24, leaving passengers upset at the airport before the aircraft eventually took off around 1 pm, sources said.
The flight was originally scheduled to depart at around 7 am, but was held up for several hours due to a reported minor technical issue. The prolonged wait led to growing frustration among travellers, and a video from inside the aircraft later went viral on social media.
In the video, passengers are seen questioning the cabin crew about the reason for the delay. Some travellers also raised concerns about ventilation inside the aircraft, claiming that the air conditioning was intermittently switched on and off during the wait.
Social media posts alleged that more than 200 passengers were affected, though official confirmation of the number is awaited.
Responding to the incident, an IndiGo spokesperson said the aircraft returned to the bay due to a minor technical snag. During maintenance checks, the cockpit crew reportedly exceeded flight duty time limitations, requiring a crew change, which further extended the delay.
The airline stated that refreshments were provided and updates were shared with passengers to reduce inconvenience.
According to sources, the flight finally departed Chennai at approximately 1 pm after the necessary technical and operational procedures were completed.
