The arrest came a day after another man approached a local court claiming that he, and not Mishra, was driving the Lamborghini at the time of the incident and sought to surrender.

Kanpur, UP: Shivam Mishra, son of local tobacco businessman K K Mishra, was granted bail by a court here on Thursday, just hours after his arrest in connection with the high-profile Lamborghini crash on VIP Road earlier this week that left several people injured.
Following his arrest, police produced him before the court of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate at around 10 am and sought 14 days of judicial custody.
However, Anant Sharma, counsel for the accused, said the court declined the request and instead granted Mishra bail on a personal bond of Rs 20,000.
Confirming the development, Mishra’s lawyer Naresh Chandra Tripathi said, "... The Court has refused the remand. He (Shivam Mishra) is being released now, on an undertaking of Rs 20,000 and a personal bond of Rs 20,000. The police were working under pressure from the government... Police had wrongly arrested him (Shivam Mishra)..."
Mishra, son of local tobacco baron K K Mishra, was arrested by police on Thursday in connection with the crash that left several people injured earlier this week, the police chief said.
The case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, including Sections 281, 125(a), 125(b), and 324(4). The investigation has been assigned to Sub-Inspector Dinesh Kumar.

However, the court rejected his surrender plea after police reiterated that they had evidence to establish that Mishra was behind the wheel at the time of the crash.
