The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Chennai has predicted heavy rainfall in several parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry over the coming days. On December 24, isolated heavy rain is expected in Chengalpattu, Viluppuram, Cuddalore, and Puducherry, along with thunderstorms in various areas. The weather department has also forecasted thunderstorms and lightning for December 25 across parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and the Karaikal region, with light to moderate rainfall in other regions.

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has issued a third-level cyclone warning for seven ports in Tamil Nadu: Chennai, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Ennore, Kattupalli, Puducherry, and Karaikal.

From December 26 to 28, light to moderate rain is expected to continue in isolated locations throughout Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Residents of these areas have been advised to stay alert for potential weather disruptions.

A cyclonic circulation is moving towards the southwest Bay of Bengal, near the northern Tamil Nadu and southern Andhra Pradesh coasts, which could impact weather patterns further. This system is expected to bring additional rainfall to the region.

Cyclone Fengal impacted Tamil Nadu and Puducherry from November 29 to December 1, causing extensive damage. The storm claimed 12 lives and submerged 2,11,139 hectares of agricultural and horticultural land, leading to severe losses for farmers.

In the meantime, local authorities are monitoring the situation as heavy rains continue to affect several parts of the state, bringing much-needed relief from recent high temperatures.
