Doctors state he is stable and responding well to treatment. Family and party leaders have been visiting. He is expected to be discharged over the weekend

Bengaluru: Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, aged 92, who was admitted to Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru due to an infection, has been shifted from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to a regular ward, the hospital said on Wednesday. Though the hospital did not specify the exact nature of the infection, sources indicate he developed a urinary tract infection.
"Honourable former PM H D Deve Gowda was admitted to Manipal Hospital at Old Airport Road with an infection yesterday. He is currently managed medically and is shifted to the ward. His progress is being monitored by a team of medical experts," the hospital said in a statement.
Hospital officials confirmed that he is stable and responding well to treatment. The veteran JD(S) patriarch remains politically active, having recently addressed a press conference at his party’s office on October 3.
Family members and senior leaders from Janata Dal (Secular) have been visiting him, while doctors maintain there is no cause for alarm. Deve Gowda is expected to be discharged over the weekend, continuing to inspire confidence with his resilience and dedication despite his advanced age.
This health update comes at a time when Deve Gowda has been vocal about political matters, including endorsing the BJP-JD(S) alliance in Karnataka and praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign policy initiatives.
