Pawar is stable and doing well, according to an official statement issued by Dr Purvez K Grant, Chief Cardiologist, Chairman and Managing Trustee of Ruby Hall Clinic.

“Mr Sharad Pawar has been discharged from Ruby Hall Clinic today. He is stable and doing well. He will be travelling directly from the hospital to his residence in Mumbai,” the statement said, while wishing him a speedy recovery.

Vitthal Maniyar, a family friend of Pawar, told reporters that all his medical reports were satisfactory and there was no cause for concern. He said Pawar had developed a cough and phlegm two days before his hospitalisation, following which doctors conducted the necessary examinations.

“There was nothing in the reports that raised any concern,” Maniyar said, adding that Pawar was not facing any particular health difficulty.

He also said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called to enquire about Pawar's health and wished him a speedy recovery. Maniyar appealed to party workers and supporters not to worry, thanking people across Maharashtra and the country for their concern and affection.

The veteran leader was admitted to Ruby Hall Clinic on November 2 after complaining of a cough and pleuritic chest pain. His daughter, Baramati MP and NCP (SP) working president Supriya Sule, had earlier said that his health parameters were stable and that he was undergoing medical tests.

The hospital had kept Pawar under observation as a precaution. His condition remained stable and the discomfort subsided, allowing doctors to discharge him.

Before his hospitalisation, Pawar had visited drought-affected areas of Maharashtra.
