Dense fog and poor visibility led to multiple major road accidents across Haryana early Sunday, resulting in massive vehicle pile-ups involving buses, trucks and cars. The incidents were reported from Rohtak, Hisar and Rewari, as the state continues to reel under a severe cold wave.
The most serious accident took place in Rohtak’s Meham area, where 35 to 40 vehicles, most of them heavy trucks, collided near the Highway intersection. According to reports, the crash began after a truck rammed into a car, triggering a chain reaction as several vehicles failed to stop in the dense fog.
Several people were injured and rushed to nearby hospitals. Rescue teams from the police and district administration carried out relief operations.
Separate accidents reported in Hisar and Rewari
Earlier in the morning, another major accident occurred in Hisar at Dhiktana Moda on National Highway 52. A Kaithal roadways bus collided with a truck, following which another state transport bus, a car and a motorcycle crashed into the vehicles ahead, causing a pile-up.
While hundreds of passengers escaped unhurt, the motorcycle rider sustained injuries and was admitted to a hospital.
In Rewari, three to four buses collided on National Highway 352 due to extremely low visibility. Several people were injured and shifted to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
