Two undergraduate students sustained severe injuries in Thavakkara, Kannur, after being knocked down by a speeding private bus while crossing the road. Police have taken the driver and conductor into custody.
Kannur: Two female undergraduate students sustained severe injuries after being struck by a private bus while crossing the road at Thavakkara in Kannur. The incident occurred around 9 am on Thursday.
The injured students have been identified as Avani, a native of Panoor, and Sneha, a native of Cheruparamba. Both are undergraduate students at an institution in Kannur and are currently undergoing treatment at private hospitals in the city.
The vehicle involved was a private bus named ‘Ivan’, operating on the Kannur–Vadakara route. Following the collision, police took the bus driver, identified as Adarsh, and the conductor into custody.
Authorities confirmed that the bus was being driven at an excessive speed at the time of the accident.
