Chennai: Tamil actor Gautami Tadimalla is preparing to contest the Tamil Nadu Assembly election from the Rajapalayam constituency and has conveyed her interest to the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leadership.
Gautami currently serves as the deputy secretary of the AIADMK’s propaganda wing. She joined the party in February 2024 after quitting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleging that the party leadership had attempted to protect a person who had misappropriated her property.

Speaking to reporters in Chennai, Gautami said she had informed the party leadership of her desire to contest from Rajapalayam. “I have had a heartfelt wish to contest from there for many years. I hope the party’s general secretary, Edappadi Palaniswami, will fulfil this aspiration,” she said.
Palaniswami has been holding interviews with party workers who have applied to contest the forthcoming Assembly elections on the party’s ticket.
A well-known actor who has appeared in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam films, Gautami had earlier actively campaigned for the BJP in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
