Why is the power supply being interrupted?

Electricity distribution companies have stated that the outages are necessary for essential maintenance and infrastructure upgrades.

Officials said the work is intended to strengthen the power network, improve grid stability and reduce the risk of unplanned outages, especially during periods of high electricity demand.

Residents advised to prepare

Authorities have urged residents to plan their activities around the outage schedule and keep essential items ready.

Households have been advised to charge mobile phones, power banks and other electronic devices in advance. Keeping emergency lighting equipment available may also help minimise inconvenience during the scheduled shutdowns.

Weather conditions add to concerns

The scheduled outages come as the India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Delhi, forecasting light rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds.

The weather department expects maximum temperatures to remain between 34 and 36 degrees Celsius over the coming days, while minimum temperatures are likely to stay around 25 degrees Celsius.

How to get updates

Residents can contact their local electricity distribution offices or monitor official announcements for real-time updates regarding restoration timelines and any changes to the outage schedule.
