The Delhi Tourism Department has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BookMyShow Live to boost the capital’s live entertainment and concert economy

New Delhi: The Delhi government’s Department of Art, Culture and Tourism has entered into a partnership with BookMyShow Live to transform the national capital into a global centre for live entertainment and cultural events.
The MoU, announced at a joint press conference on Friday, was attended by Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra, New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj, officials from BookMyShow, Delhi Police, and members of the Event and Entertainment Management Association (EEMA).
According to the agreement, the collaboration aims to strengthen Delhi’s position as a key destination for major concerts, performances, and live shows, while creating new opportunities in employment and creative industries.
Minister Kapil Mishra highlighted that the initiative is part of a larger plan to promote India’s emerging “concert economy.” He said the government would work alongside private partners to ease permissions, streamline event regulations, and attract large-scale international performances.
Over the next two financial years, the collaboration aims to contribute at least Rs 3,000 crore to Delhi’s economy through live events. The plan includes policy reforms, environmental clearances, and improved infrastructure for event organisers.
New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj added that the partnership reflects a collective effort to turn Delhi into a global cultural destination, emphasising that the initiative will create jobs and foster innovation in the entertainment sector.
Officials confirmed that more than 30 national and international live events are already scheduled to take place in Delhi under this partnership, helping the city cement its place on the global cultural map.
The Delhi Tourism Department’s agreement with BookMyShow Live represents one of the first major public-private collaborations in India’s live entertainment sector. The project will use the BookMyShow platform’s expertise in event management and ticketing to streamline processes, while the Delhi government will provide logistical and regulatory support.
The announcement comes as part of a broader effort to position Delhi as a leading destination for international entertainment acts, cultural festivals, and music concerts. Officials said the initiative will encourage sustainable event practices and promote Delhi’s heritage alongside its modern venues.
Over the next few years, the capital is expected to see a rise in entertainment-driven tourism, supported by improved infrastructure, including new venues and enhanced public spaces. The Delhi government said it will continue to work with private stakeholders to ensure the city’s readiness to host global-scale events.
