New Delhi: A Delhi court has demanded a detailed status report from the police regarding the death of a 25-year-old bank employee who fell into an uncovered pit in West Delhi’s Janakpuri.

Court Targets Accountability in Janakpuri Case

Judicial Magistrate First Class Harjot Singh Aujla has directed the Investigating Officer to file a comprehensive report by 13 February at 2:00 PM. The court is specifically seeking information on:

  • The current progress of the investigation into the death of Kamal Dhyani.
  • The working condition and positions of CCTV cameras near the site.

Kamal Dhyani, an assistant manager at a private bank, was riding home on the night of 5-6 February when his motorcycle plunged into a 15-foot-deep pit dug by the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) for a sewer project. The site reportedly lacked proper barricades, leading to his fatal injuries.

In Janakpuri: A sub-contractor and a labourer were arrested for allegedly witnessing Dhyani’s fall but failing to alert the police, effectively leaving him in the pit for hours.

In Rohini: The victim’s companion admitted he was too intoxicated to raise the alarm on Monday night, only disclosing the incident the following afternoon.
