Doha: The mortal remains of all 12 Indian nationals killed in the industrial accident at Qatar's Ras Laffan Industrial City have now been repatriated to India, the Indian Embassy in Doha has said.

Eight bodies were flown back to India on Thursday, taking the total number of repatriated remains to 12 after four victims were sent home a day earlier.

In a post on X late on Friday, the embassy said: "Mortal remains of 8 Indian nationals who unfortunately passed away in Ras Laffan accident have been repatriated to India on June 26. Four out of 12 mortal remains had been repatriated on June 25."

The explosion occurred at the Barzan local gas supply facility in Ras Laffan Industrial City, operated by QatarEnergy LNG, claiming the lives of 13 workers. The victims included 12 Indian nationals and one Pakistani national.

The embassy thanked the Qatari authorities, Indian community organisations and government agencies in India for their swift assistance in facilitating the repatriation process and providing support to the bereaved families.

Indian Ambassador Vipul, along with embassy officials, also visited Al Khor on Friday to meet Indian nationals who were injured in the blast and are receiving treatment.

According to the embassy, all the injured have received appropriate medical care. It also acknowledged the support extended by the Qatari authorities and representatives of the employer company.

The explosion left 66 people injured, including nationals of Qatar, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal, according to officials.
