
Dindigul, Tamil Nadu: The Thaipusam festival at the Palani Thandayuthapani Swamy Temple saw an outpouring of devotion and offerings, with donations totaling Rs 3.31 crore. In addition to the monetary contributions, devotees also donated 557g of gold and 21,235g of silver. The offerings included a variety of items such as foreign currencies, jewellery, and grains. Over 500 people were involved in the process of counting the donations.
Thaipusam is widely celebrated not only in Tamil Nadu, India, but also in other countries with large Tamil communities, including Sri Lanka, Singapore, and Malaysia. The festival is a significant occasion for Tamil devotees, who express their devotion to Lord Murugan, the deity of war, victory, and wisdom.
