New Delhi: CPM Central Committee has evaluated the performance of the party in the recently held general elections as disappointing. In the press release issued after the conclusion of the central committee meeting, the party said that a sincere self criticism was made in connection with the evaluation of the performance of the party in the election. It was also decided that the 24th Party Congress would be held in April 2025.
While evaluating the electoral performance of CPM, the central committee has taken the stand that the performance of left parties in general and CPM in particular was so disappointing. Though the left parties were successful in resisting the RSS by bringing together secular parties, they could not translate those efforts into election victories, CC opined.
In the previous general election held in 2019, CPM had fought in 71 seats. But, this year, the party could put up candidates in 52 seats only. The party failed to produce better performances at many places even after being able to enter into alliances with many parties. This has been analysed in detailed in the central committee meeting. More discussions and analysis would take place at the state level too.
The party has been able to identify the factors which affected their electoral prospects to a great extent. The responsibility to correct the mistake and move forward lies with the state committees. The party gives the responsibility to implement this responsibility to the the state factions , the press release said.
