State-owned oil firms raise aviation turbine fuel prices by ₹1.37 per litre alongside a ₹10 hike in commercial LPG rates, citing higher global benchmarks.

New Delhi: Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices rose by ₹1.37 per litre on Sunday, while commercial LPG rates were increased by ₹10 per 19-kg cylinder, aligning with rising international energy benchmarks, according to state-owned oil marketing companies.
In the national capital, jet fuel prices were updated to ₹138.50 per litre from ₹137.12 per litre. The revision represents the fourth consecutive monthly increase in ATF rates. Oil retailers had previously implemented a ₹16 per litre increase on October 1, following monthly upward adjustments of ₹6.28 on September 1 and ₹5 on August 1. With aviation fuel accounting for up to 40 per cent of an airline's operational expenses, the latest hike is expected to further stretch carrier operational budgets.
Commercial LPG trends and domestic fuel status
Alongside jet fuel, the cost of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders, primarily used by hotels and commercial eateries, was raised by ₹10 to reach ₹2,820. This adjustment marks a second straight monthly increase, coming on the heels of a ₹62.50 per cylinder hike on October 1 and a ₹9.50 rise on September 1.
The recent price increases follow consecutive monthly cuts of ₹192 in August and ₹183.50 in July. Those reductions came after commercial gas prices climbed steeply between February and June, surging by ₹1,373 per cylinder from ₹1,740.50 to a record ₹3,113.50, driven by global supply chain disruptions and elevated crude benchmarks.
Fuel rates are revised on the first day of each month based on foreign exchange fluctuations and international market benchmarks, with final retail costs varying by state due to local value-added taxes (VAT). Meanwhile, rates for domestic cooking gas (14.2-kg cylinders) remained steady at ₹942, after an aggregate ₹89 increase between March and June following energy disruptions in West Asia. Petrol and diesel tariffs also remained unchanged across retail outlets.
