The Tamil Nadu Assembly witnessed high drama on Tuesday as Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) legislators staged a walkout during Chief Minister Vijay’s reply to the Motion of Thanks to the Governor’s Address.

Amid repeated interruptions from Opposition benches, the CM accused the DMK of indulging in what he described as political point-scoring rather than constructive criticism.

The Chief Minister said issues such as law and order, drug abuse and governance should be debated responsibly instead of being used for political attacks.

Referring to the controversy surrounding NEET and other public issues, CM Vijay maintained that his government was committed to addressing people's concerns while ensuring administrative accountability.

He also rejected allegations that alliance partners had been influenced by the ruling camp, insisting that parties such as the CPM and the Indian Union Muslim League had made their political decisions independently.

The Chief Minister further criticised the previous administration over policing and the rise of narcotics-related problems, arguing that these challenges did not emerge overnight.

He claimed his government was taking firm action to strengthen law enforcement and protect public safety.

CM Vijay also vowed strict action against corruption, saying any wrongdoing uncovered during investigations would be pursued without fear or favour.

He asserted that his government would not tolerate the misuse of public funds and promised accountability for those found guilty.

As the exchange grew heated, Speaker JCD Prabhakar repeatedly urged members to maintain order and assured the Opposition that it would get an opportunity to respond after the Chief Minister completed his speech.

The CM ended his address with a trademark cinematic gesture after obtaining the Speaker’s permission, drawing attention from both supporters and critics in the House.
