Patna: A day after the Bihar Assembly election victory, the BJP has suspended former Union Minister RK Singh and two other leaders for alleged anti-party activities, seeking explanations for potential expulsion.

Following the BJP’s decisive win in Bihar, the party has moved against senior rebel leaders. Former Union Minister RK Singh, along with Legislative Council member Ashok Agarwal and Katihar Mayor Usha Agarwal, has been suspended for anti-party activities. The BJP has issued show-cause notices, asking them to explain why they should not be expelled. Singh, a former MP from Arrah and ex-Home Secretary during Manmohan Singh’s tenure, had been openly critical of the BJP and the Bihar government after losing the 2024 elections. Party sources said the move reflects the BJP’s determination to maintain discipline and consolidate unity in the state.

In the wake of the BJP’s emphatic victory in Bihar, senior leaders engaged in dissent have been targeted for disciplinary action. Former Union Minister RK Singh, a two-time MP from Arrah and previously the Minister of Power in the Modi 1.0 cabinet, has been suspended alongside Ashok Agarwal and Katihar Mayor Usha Agarwal. The BJP has sent formal show-cause notices demanding explanations within a week on why they should not face expulsion for anti-party activities. Singh, who joined the BJP in 2013 after a career in the civil services, had been publicly critical of party leadership and the NDA government following his defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The party emphasised that the action is aimed at preserving organisational discipline and ensuring cohesion as it prepares to govern Bihar.
