Lakhisarai: Tensions flared in Bihar’s Lakhisarai district on Thursday after Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha’s convoy was allegedly attacked by RJD supporters during the first phase of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025.
According to reports, the incident took place when the BJP leader and Lakhisarai candidate visited Khoriari village in his constituency. A mob surrounded his car, hurling slippers, stones, and even cow dung, while shouting slogans of “Murdabad” (down with) against the Deputy CM.
Sinha immediately contacted the Superintendent of Police (SP) over the phone, urging for security reinforcements. “I am here at the village. The crowd is coming closer. Send special forces immediately. I will sit here in protest,” Sinha was heard saying during the call.
Expressing anger over the situation, the Deputy CM alleged that “RJD goons” were behind the attack. “Look at their hooliganism even before coming to power. They threatened my polling agent early in the morning and are stopping voters from coming out,” Sinha said.
Speaking to reporters later, Sinha said the incident was a warning of ‘jungle raj’ if the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) were to return to power.
"These are the goons of RJD. Satta mein aa rahi hai NDA isliye inke chhati pe bulldozer chalega. The goons are not letting me visit the village. Vijay Sinha is going to win...They turned away my polling agent and did not let him vote...Look at their hooliganism...This is 404 and 405 booth numbers of Khoriari village,” he added.
Meanwhile, polling was underway for 121 constituencies across 18 districts in the first phase of the Bihar Assembly Elections under tight security.
