New Delhi: The RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) registered a strong performance in the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections 2025, clinching three out of four key posts, including the coveted position of president. The Congress-backed National Students' Union of India (NSUI) managed to win only one seat, the vice president's post.

ABVP’s Aryan Maan emerged victorious in the race for president, defeating NSUI’s Joslyn Nandita Choudhary by a commanding margin of 16,196 votes.

Speaking to PTI after the victory, Aryan said, “I want to thank all the students of Delhi University for electing me as the President. At the same time, I also want to highlight that this time Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has won 3 out of 4 posts. Deepika has secured the Joint Secretary position as well. I want to assure you all that this year’s DUSU team from ABVP will work with full dedication.”

In contrast, NSUI’s Rahul Jhansla secured a notable win in the vice president’s contest, garnering 29,339 votes and defeating ABVP’s Govind Tanwar, who received 20,547 votes.

ABVP continued its winning streak with Kunal Chaudhary securing the secretary’s post with 23,779 votes, defeating NSUI candidate Kabir. Deepika Jha of ABVP won in the joint secretary race, overcoming Lavkush Bhadana to complete the organisation’s near sweep of the central panel.

Meanwhile, the Students' Federation of India (SFI) and the All India Students' Association (AISA) failed to make a mark, drawing a blank in the polls.

In a post on X, NSUI national president Varun Choudhary said the party "fought well in this odd election -- not just against the ABVP, but against the combined force of the DU admin, Delhi govt, central govt, RSS-BJP & Delhi Police".

"Yet thousands of DU students stood firmly with us and our candidates fought well. Best wishes to Rahul Jhansla, newly elected DUSU vice president from NSUI panel, and to all other office bearers who won. Win or loss, NSUI will always fight for common students, their issues & to save DU. We will only grow stronger."

In the 2024 DUSU polls, the NSUI had won the president's post after a hiatus of seven years, along with the joint secretary's post. The ABVP secured the vice president's post and retained the secretary's position, maintaining its presence in the union.
