Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Maharashtra police are investigating a botched attempt to steal an ATM machine in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, after a group of thieves tried to pull the machine out of a bank branch using a Mahindra Thar SUV.

According to police reports, the gang tied a yellow belt around the ATM and attached it to their vehicle, attempting to drag the machine from its enclosure. However, the belt snapped during the attempt, forcing the thieves to abandon their plan and flee.

Before escaping, the suspects tried to force open the ATM using a screwdriver and damaged several CCTV cameras installed inside the booth, but were unable to access any cash or remove the machine.

The bank’s branch manager, Vishal Haridas Indurkar, lodged a formal complaint at Jawaharnagar Police Station later that day.

Following the complaint and CCTV evidence, police have registered a case against four unidentified individuals under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including charges of theft, criminal damage, and acting with common intention.

An investigation is underway, with police reviewing surveillance footage from nearby locations in an effort to identify and apprehend the suspects. No arrests have been made so far.
