New Delhi: The 88-year-old husband of popular cooking influencer Vijay Nischal, known for her social media channel ‘Dadi Ki Rasoi’, was robbed outside his home in Delhi’s Najafgarh in broad daylight.

Harishchandra Nischal had returned home after withdrawing cash from a bank when a man allegedly snatched the bag he was carrying near the entrance of his house and fled.

CCTV captures robbery

CCTV footage from the area captured the incident, including the moment Harishchandra tried to follow the snatcher after his bag was grabbed.

The elderly man attempted to chase the accused, but the snatcher managed to escape. Personnel in a nearby PCR van noticed Harishchandra and asked him what had happened. By then, however, the accused had disappeared.

The bag reportedly contained cash that Harishchandra had withdrawn from a bank to purchase household items.

Following the incident, Harishchandra approached the police and submitted a request concerning the money still held in his bank account, amid concerns that he could be targeted again.

According to India Today, he sought assistance to secure his remaining savings in the bank following the robbery.

The incident has highlighted concerns over the safety of elderly people carrying cash, particularly after withdrawing money from banks and returning home.

Vijay Nischal rose to popularity through ‘Dadi Ki Rasoi’, a cooking-focused social media channel she started after her grandson encouraged her to begin her YouTube journey.

Her videos feature simple recipes, humorous captions and playful moments from the kitchen. Some of her recipes are presented in videos of around 90 seconds, with the content aimed at making cooking more accessible to younger audiences.
