This move supports the government's 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiative, promoting homegrown technology

New Delhi: In a recent announcement on X (formerly Twitter), Union Home Minister Amit Shah declared that he has switched to the Indian-made Zoho Mail platform for his official and personal email communications. The move aligns with the ongoing push for digital sovereignty and the promotion of homegrown technology solutions in India.
Amit Shah shared his new email address, amitshah.bjp@zohomail.in, requesting that all future correspondence be directed there. The tweet read, "Hello everyone, I have switched to Zoho Mail. Kindly note the change in my email address. For future correspondence via mail, kindly use this address."
This change follows similar shifts by other ministers in the government, including IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who advocated for the adoption of Zoho's Swadeshi office suite in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India). Zoho Corporation, headquartered in Chennai, has gained traction as a robust alternative to global email and productivity platforms, offering a range of cloud-based tools with strong data privacy and regional compliance.
The adoption of Zoho by high-profile government officials can be seen as a boost to the indigenous software ecosystem and a step towards reducing dependency on foreign technology platforms. The government's push for secure and sovereign digital infrastructure is central to India's broader goals of becoming a global technology leader.
Zoho Mail and its suite of office tools are increasingly being integrated across various government departments, symbolising a significant shift in digital communication and collaboration practices within the public sector.
