Malviya highlighted Gandhi's alleged electoral defeats, questioning his leadership and tactics.

New Delhi: BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya on Friday launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as early trends from the Bihar Assembly election showed a poor performance for the Congress and its allies.
Taking to X, Malviya wrote, “Rahul Gandhi! Another election, another defeat! If there were awards for electoral consistency, he’d sweep them all. At this rate, even setbacks must be wondering how he finds them so reliably.”
He added that Gandhi has now overseen 95 electoral defeats in two decades, remarking, “While many call him a 9-to-5 blame-game politician, Rahul Gandhi has now accumulated 95 electoral defeats—five short of a century. Is the attack on India's institutions a diversionary tactic by the silver-spoon scion?”
Malviya also shared graphics highlighting states where the Congress has suffered setbacks since Gandhi entered politics.
According to the Election Commission, the Congress, which contested 60 seats, was leading in only four constituencies, while the Mahagathbandhan alliance of the RJD, VIP, and Left parties appeared headed for one of its worst electoral outcomes in Bihar.
Out of 243 seats, the NDA was leading comfortably, with the BJP ahead in 89 and its ally JD(U) in 79 constituencies by around 1 p.m.
Meanwhile, senior Congress leader and former Governor Nikhil Kumar admitted to internal shortcomings, citing weak organisational strength, poor groundwork, and inadequate strategy. “This reflects the weakness of our organisation. If the organisation is weak and cannot function effectively, the overall outcome suffers,” he said.
Kumar added that despite fielding capable candidates, stronger contestants could have been chosen, stressing the need for better coordination and inclusivity in decision-making. He noted that several deserving candidates were overlooked in favour of “incompetent” ones, which hurt the party’s prospects in key constituencies.
