New Delhi: The Hindu calendar marks twelve Amavasya (new moon) days every year, each carrying deep religious and astrological importance.

Although traditionally considered inauspicious for beginning new ventures, Amavasya holds a special significance in worship, ancestor rituals, and spiritual practices.

Astrologer Radhakant Vats explains that Rahu’s influence is stronger on Amavasya, making it especially beneficial to worship Lord Shiva and Shani Dev. Such worship is believed to reduce planetary afflictions and bring peace and prosperity.

  • Kartik Amavasya (Diwali) – October 21, 2025 (Tuesday

    → Performing Shraddha rituals for ancestors and donating to the needy is considered highly auspicious.
