Mumbai: An Air India flight from Mumbai to Jodhpur was forced to return to the bay on Friday after the pilots detected an operational problem during take-off. The flight, AI645, was preparing to depart for Jodhpur on August 22 when the cockpit crew decided to discontinue the take-off run.

According to ANI, the airline said the pilots followed standard operating procedures, safely brought the aircraft back, and made alternative travel arrangements for passengers.

This incident comes just days after Air India cancelled its Zurich–Delhi service (AI152) on August 17. The airline explained that the flight was called off due to a technical issue, and later, Zurich airport’s night curfew also prevented operations. Passengers were offered accommodation, refunds, or free rescheduling options.

A passenger on the Zurich–Delhi route told PTI that the aircraft had faced an engine-related problem, forcing the airline to abort the flight.

In the 48 hours before the Zurich cancellation, Air India had also called off at least two flights, including one on an international route, citing last-minute technical reasons.

Air India operates its Boeing 787/8/9 fleet on European routes. Recently, the airline said it had completed a detailed inspection of its 787 aircraft and found “no issues.” Still, some flights have faced delays and cancellations as the airline has stepped up technical checks since coming under private ownership in January 2022.
