Strategic connectivity and network expansion

Nipun Aggarwal, Air India Chief Commercial Officer, stated that the resumption aligns with the airline’s plan to expand international connectivity. The new service enhances links between India and Italy, offering easy onward connections through Delhi to destinations including Bangkok, Colombo, Ho Chi Minh City, Kathmandu, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Phuket, and Singapore.

Italy is one of India’s major trading partners in Europe, and the route will cater to growing passenger traffic, supported by a large Indian community in Italy and rising interest in Italian tourism, culture, art, and cuisine. Ivan Bassato, Chief Aviation Officer of Aeroporti di Roma, welcomed the flights as a key step for long-haul travel growth in 2026.

With the addition of Rome, Air India will serve eight destinations in mainland Europe and three in the United Kingdom. Bookings for the Delhi–Rome flights are open via Air India’s website, mobile app, airport counters, contact centres, and authorised travel agents worldwide.
