Delhi: An Air India Boeing 777 flight bound for Mumbai safely returned to Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport on Monday morning following a shutdown of its right engine shortly after takeoff.
The twin-engine aircraft, registered as VT-ALS and operating as flight AI 887, departed at 6:10 a.m. and circled back, landing around 6:52 a.m., according to flight tracking data.
Air India spokesperson stated: AI887 from Delhi to Mumbai on 22 December, after take-off, returned to Delhi due to a technical issue, as per standard operating procedure. The aircraft landed safely at Delhi, and the passengers and crew disembarked.
