A retired Army officer, Lieutenant General Kulwant Singh Mann (85), died after being hit by an unidentified vehicle while on an evening walk in Panchkula, Haryana.

Chandigarh: A retired Army officer was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle while on his evening walk in Haryana’s Panchkula, police said on Sunday.
The incident took place on Friday evening near the Mansa Devi Complex area. The victim, Lieutenant General Kulwant Singh Mann (retd), aged around 85, was walking near his residence when an unidentified vehicle struck him, Acting Station House Officer Sub-Inspector Sukhwinder said.

He was rushed to the Army’s Command Hospital in Chandimandir for treatment but succumbed to his injuries, police added.
Authorities have launched efforts to identify the vehicle involved and trace the driver.
"We are waiting for one of his sons to return from abroad, after which the post-mortem will be conducted," he added.
Sukhwinder said police are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas, as the stretch where the accident occurred does not have CCTV cameras.
Panchkula ACP Dinesh Kumar said a case has been registered under relevant provisions of the law against the driver of the unidentified vehicle.
"Further investigations are on," he said.
