Sudha Kongara’s period political drama Parasakthi records a significant drop on Day 2 at the box office, earning Rs 1.29 crore net in India amid stiff competition and a delayed release.

'Parasakthi', the highly anticipated historical drama starring Sivakarthikeyan, has experienced a sharp decline at the box office on its second day.
Directed by Sudha Kongara, the film collected Rs 1.29 crore net in India on day 2, taking its total two-day collection to Rs 13.64 crore net, according to trade estimates.

The film had opened to Rs 12.35 crore net on its first day, but the steep decline on Sunday indicates a cautious audience response, despite strong pre-release buzz.
'Parasakthi', which marks Sivakarthikeyan’s 25th film as a lead actor, was expected to build momentum over the weekend, but the Day 2 figures suggest otherwise.
In comparison, the actor’s earlier releases performed better at the opening. Madharaasi earned Rs 13.65 crore on its first day in 2025, while Amaran clocked a massive Rs 24.7 crore opening in 2024, setting a high benchmark that 'Parasakthi' has been unable to match so far.
Trade analysts point to strong box office competition as a key reason for the dip. Prabhas’s horror-comedy 'The Raja Saab' has dominated theatres, amassing Rs 90.73 crore net in India within just two days, leaving limited screen space and audience attention for 'Parasakthi'.
The film also faced last-minute hurdles before release. It received a UA certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification only days before its scheduled opening, after the makers reportedly implemented 25 changes, including language modifications and visual trims.
Set in 1960s Madras, 'Parasakthi' revolves around two brothers caught in the turmoil of the anti-Hindi imposition protests in Tamil Nadu. The film features Ravi Mohan as the antagonist, with Atharvaa in a pivotal role and Basil Joseph in a cameo. The film also marks Sreeleela’s Tamil debut and is produced by Dawn Pictures.
With mixed word-of-mouth and intense competition, all eyes are now on how 'Parasakthi' performs over the crucial weekdays.
