Kottayam: In a unique initiative, Kerala Police Special Branch Sub-Inspector Rajesh Manimala from Kottayam is offering a special gift to those who contribute to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to support Wayanad landslide victims. Rajesh, who is also an accomplished painter, has pledged to draw and present portraits of the contributors' choice if they donate to the relief fund.
To participate, individuals must donate a minimum of Rs 1000 to the relief fund. After making the donation, they need to send the receipt to Rajesh, who will then create a custom portrait of their choice. Rajesh, originally from Manimala and currently residing in Kanjirappally, has been encouraging donations to relief funds since 2017, through three floods and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Inspired by Rajesh's initiative, people from Kerala and abroad have contributed over Rs 5.5 lakh to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund during these four phases. Rajesh mentioned that donations have ranged from Rs 500 to Rs 80,000.
Known for his artistic skills, Rajesh has also assisted the police in solving cases by drawing sketches of suspects based on witness descriptions. His talent is well-regarded within the state police.
For those interested in donating and receiving a portrait, Rajesh has provided a WhatsApp number on his Facebook page. Donors can send their receipts and the photo to be drawn, ensuring a lasting memory of their good deed.
