Aluva: The Kochi Regional Passport Office has issued a passport to a premature baby born to a couple from Bihar, completing the process within five days. The passport was issued to Abdul Rahman Tanveer, son of Mohammad Tanveer Alam and Ghazala Afroze Jahan, natives of Madhubani district in Bihar. Mohammad Tanveer works at the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia, while Ghazala is a school teacher there.

The couple sought treatment at a private hospital in Kodungallur on the advice of a Malayali friend after remaining childless for 16 years. Their son was born on December 20, 2025. The baby was born at just 33 weeks of gestation and is currently under care in the NICU. Mohammad Tanveer had come to Kerala on a two-week leave and, as he had to return soon, applied for the passport on an urgent basis.

Officials from the Kochi Regional Passport Office visited the hospital to collect the baby’s biometric details, following which the passport was issued within five days. The application was submitted at the Aluva Passport Office, which functions under the Kochi Regional Passport Office. The development was announced in Kochi under the leadership of Assistant Passport Officer Shibu John, with further action taken on the instructions of Regional Passport Officer Dipin PR.

Once the baby is discharged from hospital, Mohammad Tanveer and his family are preparing to travel to Saudi Arabia together.
