A Bengaluru techie’s emotional Reddit post tracing his journey from a ₹5,000 salary to ₹46 lakh per annum in 10 years has gone viral — not just for the career milestone, but for the heartfelt tribute he paid to his mother, calling her the true hero behind his success

In a moving Reddit post that’s striking a chord with thousands, a 35-year-old Indian tech professional shared the incredible journey of rising from a humble Rs 5,000 monthly salary to earning Rs 46 lakh per annum—while paying tribute to the women who made it possible.
Titled “35M | My First Salary Was Rs 5,000. 10 Years Later, It’s 46 LPA – Here’s My Story,” the post, shared on r/Indian_flex, details the life of a man born to agricultural labourers in rural India. At just seven years old, his life changed when his parents moved to Bengaluru in search of better work, leaving him and his brother in the care of their grandmother.

His mother, a domestic help and garment factory worker, juggled multiple jobs with tireless determination. “Her hands were always full, but her heart was even fuller—with love, grit, and the will to change our future,” he wrote, calling her his “real hero.”
His grandmother ensured the boys stayed in school despite limited resources. After studying at a government school and a polytechnic college, he pursued a B.Tech in Computer Science—supported by his elder brother, who had begun working at Power Grid Corporation of India.
His first job was as a junior web developer, earning just Rs 5,000 per month. Through relentless learning and hard work, he climbed the corporate ladder within the same company, eventually becoming an engineering manager.
“From where we started, this feels like a dream come true,” he said. The family now owns five acres of land, a new home, and a car—milestones that once seemed out of reach.
Responding to comments, he humbly acknowledged that while Rs 46 LPA might be common in the industry, for his family, it’s nothing short of extraordinary.
At the core of his story lies one emotion—gratitude. “I owe everything to my family—especially my mother, my grandmother, and my brother. My mother’s sacrifices are the foundation of everything I’ve built. She will always be my greatest hero.”
