Koch: The Kochi City Cybercrime Police have arrested two individuals involved in pirating and circulating the movie 'Ajayante Randam Moshanam' (ARM), starring Tovino Thomas. Kumaresan (29) and Praveen Kumar (31), both from Tamil Nadu, were caught for copying the film on their mobile phones and distributing it through Telegram.
The police revealed that the accused are part of the notorious group "Tamil Rockers," known for spreading pirated versions of films. They earned a reward of Rs 1 lakh for every movie they uploaded on certain websites. So far, the duo had pirated and distributed 32 films. The investigation is ongoing to find a third person connected to the crime.
It was discovered that the pirated copy of 'ARM' was recorded at SRK Mirage Theatre in Coimbatore, linked to the Tamil Rockers gang. At the time of their arrest, they were also found with a pirated version of the newly released Rajinikanth film 'Vettaiyan', which hit theatres just a day before.
To execute their plan, the accused booked high-priced tickets and selected seats that would allow them to film the movie clearly. To avoid detection, other gang members would buy nearby seats. Once recorded, the videos were sold and distributed through Telegram and other websites.
