Mumbai: The Mumbai police have successfully dismantled a high-profile sex racket operating out of a hotel in the Hiranandani area, rescuing four models working in the film industry. A 60-year-old man, identified as Shyamsunder Arora, was arrested in connection with the operation.

The authorities were alerted to the racket after receiving information about illicit activities at a hotel in Powai's Hiranandani area. Acting on this tip, the police initiated an operation by posing as potential customers. Shyamsunder, upon contact, offered the models for a price ranging from Rs 70,000 to Rs 1 lakh each, with the women aged between 26 and 35 years.

The suspect sent photographs of four women, claiming they were associated with the film industry, and promised to deliver them to the hotel. A trap was set, and as Shyamsunder arrived with the models, the fake customer immediately alerted the authorities, who swiftly raided the hotel. The four women were rescued, and Shyamsunder was taken into custody.

The rescued women have been sent to a shelter home for care and support.

During the raid, police seized eight mobile phones and Rs 3 lakh in cash from the hotel rooms. In his interrogation, Shyamsunder revealed the involvement of another person, believed to be based in the Charkop area. Police are now searching for this additional suspect.

The Powai Police have registered a case against Shyamsunder Arora under Section 143(2) of the Bombay Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and Sections 4 and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956. He has been arrested and is currently in custody.
